Herbal Essences Nearly Naked Dry Shampoo Review

Hello everyone,

I’m not the biggest fan of dry shampoos, just because I’d rather wash my hair and actually have it feel fresh. Maybe it’s because I just haven’t found a really good dry shampoo. Until now that is…

I was in Boots the other day and had a look at the dry shampoo section. Just as I was about topick up the Batiste on (I’ve used it before, but wasn’t too impressed) I saw this one. What caught my eye was the design and I know you should’nt judge a book by its cover, but Iwas glad I did in that moment.

First of all, it has NO parabens and NO colourants. In total, it has 15 ingerdients, all of which are quite natural. The Batiste one and Tresemme dry shampoo had waaaay more than that. The ingredient list was literally so small and long, I felt like I need magnifying glasses to read them.

So I bought the Herbal Essences once and tried it out once I got home.

First of all, there’s no white residue. Now I have naturally brown hair and there was no white! And it does come out white. Once you spray it into your hair, it almost feels wet, but also really cold. What I would imagine dry ice to feel like, if you were able to touch that stuff without burning your hands off. It is literally the weirdest andcoolest feeling ever.

But let’s get to the actual doing part. It provides so much volume and just takes the grease away. Like a little fairy that just magically appears and swipes it away.
The only thing  i noticed is, that my hair begins to almost feel like I backcombed it throughout the day. It still looks great and natural but begins to feel a bit strange.

But it’s just so cheap, about €2.40 or so and definitely worth picking up the next time you’re in Boots.

Enjoy and Good Luck xx

1. Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction Body Mist. Oh my goodness,if you were to take every single incredible smelling fruit and flower, mash them up and create a gorgeous scent, this would be it. It is literally the definition of perfection. It just smells so fresh and fruity, with a hint of flirty. I love that the scent lingers on your skin for a long mount of time, but if you do re-spritz, it’s not too overwhelming. I highly recommend this product and the packaging is just so cute. I love this oodles and oodles.

2. The Neutrogena Visibly Clear pink grapefruit facial wash and scrub. I have been using these two product for a while now and my skin is loving it. I use the scrub 2-3 times a week, as I have really sensitive skin, and the facial wash every morning and night. At night I’ve been using it twice, once to get off any make-up and then another pump right after to get rid of any oil build up and dirt. This has really helped clear my skin. And can we just talk about the smell. Oh my goodness it smells heavenly… so Perfect!!!!

3. The TRESemme Heat Defence styling spray. I started recently using this before I blow dry my hair and it has honestly made such a difference. It makes my hair look healthier and it feels a lot softer too. Just a few spritzes and it’s ready to go. It also has a really subtle but lovely scent to it, that I love. Screen shot 2014-04-23 at 15.26.23

4. The Urban Decay Ammo Palette. I’ve mostly been loving this eye palette this month for the eyeshadow “Shattered”, a gorgeous sparkly turquoise colour. I’ve been wearing this on my lower lash line to add a pop of spring and colour to my eyes. It’s so pigmented and just looks so pretty on. I’ve also been loving “Polyester Bridge” as an inner corner highlight.

5. Catrice Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder. So apart from the fact that this bronzer is supa cheap, it also looks beautiful on the skin. And now that the sun is coming out it’s time to unleash our inner golden goddess right? It looks so natural and comes in a variety  of shades to suit your skin tone. I also really like the carvings in the bronzer, however once you’ve used it a few times they start to fade…

6. Lindsey Kelk’s ‘I Heart Hollywood’. I honestly don’t even know where to begin on this book, it’s so good. So a woman flies out to LA with her best friend to interview a hot and famous celebrity, who has come with a few secrets. She goes to lavish parties, gets drunk, makes mistakes, goes shopping, meets cute guys and has fun. It’s such a good and funny read and is perfect for anyone who loves Sex And The City. Which I do btw. There’s a few others, the first one being I heart New York, which is also incredible. I highly recommend checking them out.

Goodbye Dry Skin

We’ve all been there. Bitter cold days that leave the skin feeling extremely dry and flaky looking. Now that it’s the new year, it’s finally time to get rid of your dry skin. I’m going to show you some easy DIY at home remedies that you can use to get rid of dry skin and say hello to a beautifully moisturised and smooth surface.

So let’s get started!

1. Firstly, drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated! So drink up!

2.To reduce the Flaky skin around eyebrows and nose,  you’ll need Apples, lemons and honey

Recipe: Juice one apple with the skin on. Add a tiny bit of freshly squeezed lemon and use a cotton pad to apply the juice in an upward and outward direction. Apples and lemon act as an exfoliant for the skin. Apples also help to tone and boost collagen production. Follow with applying some honey on your skin, to help moisturize your skin.

3. Olive Oil, Lemon, & Salt Scrub

For a little more exfoliation on your skin,  mix the juice from 1 lemon with 5 tablespoons of sea salt and one tablespoon of olive oil to create a luxurious body scrub.  The fresh lemon scent is really invigorating and with the addition of olive oil, this scrub will leave your skin feeling fresh and moisturized and incredibly soft.

5. Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is wonderful, a product that has so many versatile uses. I love using a bit of coconut  oil and lathering it right onto my skin. It’s great for use on legs to help while shaving, but also great for putting into your hair and leaving it in a bun for a few hours as a deep conditioner. Rinse out after a couple of hours with shampoo and voila, your hair will feel and look silky smooth.

Hey guys, so a few weeks ago I showed you some at home spa treatments and decided that I would share some at home face masks to pamper your skin. This way you can get the refreshed, relaxed salon-fresh feeling without leaving the warmth of your own home, especially as the days are getting colder and colder. These face masks are so easy to prepare and will allow you to have a littletime for yourself. So let’s get started shall we??

Papaya Face Mask

This mask is suitable for all skin types, helping to create an even skin tone and leaving your skin soft, glowing and super hydrated! Papaya and pineapple contain papain and bromelain, two enzymes that promote skin renewal and dissolve dry skin cells. Papaya benefits the skin as it is rich in vitamin A, E and C and anti-oxidants which moisturise the skin and clear any dirt and dark spots on your face.

You will need:

  • 2 tablespoons raw papaya
  • ½ teaspoon fresh pineapple juice

Mix the pineapple juice with the mashed papaya in a small bowl, until you form a smooth paste. apply this paste onto your clean face and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Rinse off and voila! For best results use this mask once a week.

Banana Face Mask

Bananas contain lots of vitamins that are beneficial to your skin and their natural acids help remove dead skin cells to brighten your complexion. For a natural face mask that’s delicious enough to eat, you can use:

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2 tablespoons honey

All you have to do is mash up a banana with a fork and then mix in two tablespoons of honey. If you want you could also add a few drops of lemon. Apply your homemade mask to the face for 15 minutes before rinsing with a cool or steaming warm washcloth and follow with a good moisturiser to lock in the goodness!

Oatmeal and Yoghurt Face Mask

Using oatmeal and yoghurt, you can mix up your own face mask suitable for all skin types but especially for dry skin due to the soothing benefits of oatmeal. And who doesn’t want a remedy for dry skin? Easy to prepare and kind to the skin. Just mix:

  • 1 tablespoon finely ground oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon live, organic yoghurt
  • A few drops of honey

Apply to the face and leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Use a moisturizer to keep in the moisture.

At Home Spa Treatments

Screen shot 2013-08-28 at 18.02.32

In this post I’m going to share some spa treatments for you to try out at home. They are very easy and inexpensive to do.

1) The first at home spa treatment is for a nice relaxing bath. All you need is a cup of rosewater and a cup of coconut milk. Mix the two together and add to your bath.

2) For the second one you need a cup of honey plus a cup of olive oil. This is a great moisturiser for your skin. Honey is anti-bacterial so it is perfect for preventing and reducing spots on your skin. The olive oil is a natural moisturiser for your skin. So combined they are perfect.

3) The facial/body scrub is just made of honey and brown sugar. Depending on how coarse textured you want this to be, add as much sugar as you want. This is so great for exfoliating any dead skin cells.  (I also have a previous post on exfoliators.) This scrub can also be used for you lips.

4) The last treatment helps fight the redness on your face. it consists of one egg yolk and the juice of one lemon. This works so well. you could also apply some sugar to your lemon and run the lemon over your face for the same effect.
